We have successfully met all the criteria to achieve National Healthy Schools Status.
The impact of the programme is based on a whole-school approach to physical and emotional well-being focused on four core themes:
- Personal, Social & Health Education
- Healthy Eating
- Physical Activity
- Emotional Health & Wellbeing
We want all children and young people to be healthy and achieve at school and in life. We believe that by providing opportunities at school for enhancing emotional and physical health, we will improve long term health, reduce health inequalities, increase social inclusion and raise achievement for all.

How we achieved this acknowledgement:
At Saltersgate Junior School, the School Council take an active role in ensuring that we meet the Healthy Schools requirements every year. The group of children in the School Council plan and deliver an annual 'Healthy Day' in order to promote an ethos of a healthy body and healthy mind. The day consists of a selection of activities that focus around keeping fit, healthy eating, promoting a healthy self esteem and anti-bullying.
