Cross Country Champions!
A team of 16 pupils represented Saltersgate Junior School at a local cross country tournament on Wednesday. All of the pupils ran brilliantly on a challenging course over a distance of close to one mile against many other pupils from their age/ gender group.
How did we do? Our incredible team won all four trophies available meaning we were overall winners of the competition!
Most of our superstar runners managed to come in the top 4 of their respected race, including 1st place in three of the four races, meaning that the overall trophy went to Saltersgate Junior School.
Well done team!
News & Events
Cross Country
All children in school have taken part in our ‘Pole to Pole’ run this year, which promotes running, exercise and willpower. Each child runs approximately one mile per week in their PE lessons. The initiative certainly helped our school Cross Country team this term at the Doncaster Cross Country Tournament at Hill House and at Sunnyfields Primary School. Returning as defending champions to Hill House, the sixteen children performed brilliantly, finishing a close second behind the hosts. At Sunnyfields however, the team went one further and won the whole tournament! Incredibly, we also won the U9 girls, U9 boys, U11 girls and U11 boys team trophies. We are extremely proud of the team.

Book Awards Finale
The Book Club children recently attended the Book Awards Finale. As part of the event the children formed the SJS Squad and performed a Rap. Please click on the link to view the video.
China
As part of her SLE role, Mrs McKie (along with a small group of Doncaster teachers and Headteachers) visited Dalian in China to observe Maths teaching in a Chinese school. This was extremely beneficial to the school as it allowed Mrs McKie to gain a greater understanding of the excellent strategies used to teach Maths in order to achieve even greater outstanding results. Mrs McKie also taught Maths in a Chinese school and was commended for her ability to do this. Links with the Chinese schools have been set up to allow us to share and disseminate information for the benefit of Saltersgate.
